A new president. A return to sanity. Let’s all hope this will come to pass smoothly in the coming weeks. Meanwhile, on the home front, we are also going through transitions. Besides our two new Staff Members, we’re thrilled to announce the addition of four BIPOC leaders to our Board of Directors.

With the appointment of our new Board Members, we take another step in our commitment to making Target Margin more diverse, inclusive, and equitable. From our earliest days, “difference” has been a generative principle in everything we do, whether that’s in an artistic or a social context. We aggressively cast and staff our work with the broadest range of people and we are proud that one way people identify a TMT show is our history of diverse casts.

But we can always do better, do more, dig deeper. Our four new Board Members are all BIPOC leaders with great insight, but just as importantly, they all have a long history with Target Margin and care about our work. We welcome their perspective and guidance as we continue to further our ideas of “difference.”

Purva Bedi is a brilliant mind whose elegant performances have graced our work for decades. A 2019 Drama Desk Award winner for her work in Dance Nation (Playwrights Horizons), she is an acclaimed actress working in film, television and theater, who also produces independent film.

Melody Cooper first joined us as Mamba in Mamba’s Daughters and now speaks with razor authority as a playwright and screenwriter. A story editor on NBC Universal’s Law & Order: SVU, she is the founder of ORIGINS, which helps create and promote Black Visionary film, TV and Web series. She has just started as a fellow in the Sundance Episodic Lab’s new Idea Lab.

Raymond Lohier is a Federal Judge on the 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals, our Brooklyn neighbor, and a long-time audience member and TMT fan. He was appointed to his position in 2010 by Barack Obama after serving as an assistant U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York.

Greig Sargeant is an acclaimed actor whose credits include Ivo van Hove’s The Little Foxes (NYTW), Measure for Measure (Elevator Repair Service), and numerous productions at Target Margin including, Dido Queen of Carthage, Mamba’s Daughters, and the titular role in Uncle Vanya. There is no greater heart than the loving generous one that Greig has brought to TMT’s work since our very first season.
