Target Margin Theater, with funding from the New York State Council on the Arts,
is excited to continue our STUDIO SPACE PROGRAM
We will begin accepting requests for free rehearsal space for June – August on
FRIDAY, MAY 5, 2025 AT NOON
What is a Target Margin’s STUDIO SPACE PROGRAM?
- The Target Margin’s Studio Space Program provides companies or individual artists up to 100 hours of free rehearsal space at TMT to developing their performance-based work.
- Space will be offered first come, first served (depending on availability).
- The program is offered for rehearsal time only, not workshop showings or performances.
- The program is not able to support individuals or groups looking for a one-off reservation or a rehearsal room for few hours at this time. Participants must commit to using at least 50 hours of studio time by the end of the allotted time period.
Who is the program for?
- The program was designed for companies and/or artists who need or would benefit from a significant amount of time in a rehearsal space. You could be developing an established project or experimenting with a new idea or exploring your creative process – anything!
- All performance-based artists who can commit to using at least 50 hours of rehearsal space are encouraged to fill out the intake form.
Where is it?
- Target Margin Theater is at 232 52nd Street in Sunset Park, Brooklyn.
- We have a large street level theater space that is wheelchair accessible and two rehearsal studios on the 2nd floor.
- Photos of our spaces and dimensions can be found here.
- Space will be reserved for artists in advance on a first come, first served basis. We will take into consideration accessibility needs, scheduling, and availability of the theater/studios.
Frequently Asked Questions
- How do I reserve free Studio Space?
Our form will go live on our website on Friday, May 9th at noon. It will close when we’ve reached capacity. - I won’t be able to fill out the form at the time it goes live, can I do it later?
Of course! However, please note that space is given on a first come first serve basis. - How can I best prepare my form responses for when it goes live?
Be sure to have your preferred dates/times ready to go, with a concise and informational summary of your work and how you intend to use the space. - I filled out a request, why didn’t I receive free space?
The program is funded by a grant from NYSCA and covers 1000 hours of free rehearsal space for artists. We receive many more requests than we can accommodate for the program. We will be working hard to schedule as many artists as possible and will do our best to keep everyone up to date on the status of their request. - I missed this round of free space, what can I do?
We hope to provide this resource again in 2026! Join our mailing list and follow us on social media to stay in the loop for when that’s available.
