INDIA SONG

India Song 1

October 6 – 23, 1994
@ The Ontological Theater at St. Mark’s Church

by Marguerite Duras
Directed by David Herskovits

India Song, the story of a love affair which took place in India long ago. What makes Duras’ play radical is its structure: while four voices describe their memories of events from the distant past, other actors embody those memories but without speech. The text we hear is never completely in sync with what we see on stage, giving the play a fluid, dreamlike quality.
